More than 1000 livestock farmers from Baringo are set to be enrolled to National Hospital Insurance Fund after a successful goat auction exercise presided over by Deputy President Dr. William Ruto at Kimalel grounds, Baringo South Constituency where part of the proceeds were to be channeled to NHIF so that they provide one year universal health cover for farmers and their families.
Speaking during the event where more than Ksh 25,000,000 was raised from the sale of about 2500 goats, each going for Ksh. 10,000, Dr.Ruto lauded the partnership between Baringo County Government and NHIF terming it as big step towards achieving universal health care which is one of president Uhuru Kenyatta big four agenda and urged other Counties to follow suit.

‘’we will come here in next two or three years, but after that this auction will close since the processing of meat and it’s by products will have been done ‘said the DP.
On his part, Baringo County Governor Stanley Kiptis assured the DP of his administration commitment to focus on manufacturing and value addition as demonstrated by the launch of completion of Maoi Abotoir and Mogotio Mogotio tannery.
These two developments will see Baringo become among the few Counties in Kenya to have such facilities.
