H.E Jacob Kurui Chepkwony
I sincerely thank God for this monumental opportunity of being your second deputy Governor and His Excellency the Governor, Hon. Stanley Kiptis for the trust and confidence he has bestowed on me and of course the voters of Baringo County for overwhelmingly endorsing us. I don’t take this for granted and I pledge to support His Excellency’s vision in word and deed for a better Baringo County. I promise, by the Grace of God, that I will provide servant leadership, stewardship and teamwork with all stakeholders and partners to ensure that Baringo County prospers in development.
We will work with all stakeholders; professionals, the business community, politicians, religious leaders, the civil society, farmers, among others to transform our County for better.
It is evident that the advent of devolution has impacted lives positively in Baringo through the many flagship projects that are completed and ongoing.
I urge residents to play a critical role in shaping the destiny of our County by ensuring that they avail themselves in public participation forums to give their input on policies and laws formulated by both the executive and the legislature as enshrined in the constitution.
The county government has invested heavily in infrastructural development of important amenities which have directly improved the living standards of the people. Key to these developments is the improvement of all road networks which have greatly facilitated movement of people and goods from one point to the other.
The formation of North Rift Economic Bloc has set ground for more investments that have gone a long way in creating thousands of job opportunities for the residents of the partner counties, Baringo being one of them. The investors eyeing rich agricultural, energy, natural resources and Tourism sectors will largely be partnering with local producers in the value chain as well as identifying new markets for local products.
One of the noble intent of devolution as enshrined in the Kenya Constitution 2010 is to bring government services closer to the people, and with this, the Leadership of Baringo is keen to be held accountable in fulfilling the aspirations of the constitution. Together with other stakeholders, we will purpose to strengthen devolution as a means of achieving sustainable development growth and citizen empowerment.
Finally, I call upon the residents of Baringo to support the leadership in place and give it opportunity to deliver and take the County to greater heights as outlined in our campaign manifesto.
