In a bid to bolster fire response capabilities, Kabarnet Municipality, under the leadership of Municipal Manager Dr. Salome Tomno, has in the past weeks carried out a critical inspection of its water hydrants.
The exercise, which has seen collaboration between the municipalitys Water Department, local firefighters, and key stakeholders such as Kirandich Water Company Managing Director and Director of Disaster Management Response, is part of a broader effort to ensure preparedness for potential emergencies.
The inspection focused on assessing the functionality of hydrants across strategic areas of the municipality, including Pleasant Dove, the Monument area, the Assembly, and the Market. The evaluation confirmed that these hydrants are operational and ready to be deployed in case of a fire outbreak.
Further enhancing Kabarnet's fire preparedness, plans are in motion to install additional hydrants in high-risk zones, such as Kasoyo, the Police Line, Kiberenge, the Public Works area, Kaptimbor, and the Main Stage area. These upgrades are expected to strengthen the municipalitys fire-fighting infrastructure, ensuring swift and sustained responses to emergencies.
With the dry season gripping the savannah, which significantly raises the risk of fire outbreaks, the municipality remains proactive in safeguarding both lives and property. The ongoing initiative underscores Kabarnet Municipalitys steadfast commitment to public safety, with authorities maintaining heightened vigilance and readiness to act in the face of any disaster.
