Kabarnet Municipality has pledged sustained efforts to improve public safety and support local businesses through continuous street lighting restoration programme across the town.
The Municipal Manager Salome Tomno says, the municipality has been working closely with relevant departments to ensure that streetlights are fully functional, enhancing safety, convenience, and comfort for residents, traders, and visitors. The initiative is aimed at improving night-time visibility while strengthening security and public confidence within urban centres.
Most recently, Kasoyo Centre in Kapropita Ward benefited from the programme, with street lighting successfully restored. The improved illumination is already contributing to enhanced security, supporting local businesses, and encouraging night-time economic activities in the area.
The Municipal Management notes that well-lit streets play a critical role in reducing crime, promoting safer neighbourhoods, and enabling businesses to operate for longer hours. Residents are also able to move more freely and confidently after dark, contributing to a more vibrant and inclusive urban environment.
The municipality says the street lighting programme will continue across other parts of Kabarnet as part of its broader commitment to community development, public safety, and sustainable local economic growth.
