The County Government of Baringo has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) programme by expanding the school feeding initiative to centres in food-insecure areas and informal settlements.

Governor H.E. Benjamin Cheboi, EGH, EBS, gave the assurance while officially opening Kituro and Kasore ECDE Centres in Ewalel Chap Chap Ward, Baringo Central Sub-county. Accompanied by area MCA Hon. Ayub Kibet, the Governor said the expanded feeding programme, alongside the provision of clean water, will target vulnerable areas such as Tiaty, Mogotio and Baringo South to improve enrolment, attendance and learner retention.

The Governor noted that his administration has continued to invest heavily in ECDE infrastructure and learning environments, with more centres now fully equipped with furniture for both learners and teachers.

He further highlighted that the year before last, the County Government converted the majority of ECDE teachers from contractual terms to permanent and pensionable employment, significantly improving their welfare and job security.

Additionally, at the beginning of this year, every ECDE centre received Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC)-compliant learning materials. Governor Cheboi assured residents that the County Government will continue supplying more instructional resources and other essential learning necessities to enhance the quality of early childhood education across Baringo.
